Today, we’ll be discussing Episode 6 of See You In My 19th Life, the hit K Drama on Netflix starring Shin Hye-sun as Ban Ji-eum, Ahn Bo-hyun as Moon Seo-ha, Ha Yoon-kyung as Yoon Cho-won, Ahn Dong-goo as Ha Do-yoon and Cha Chung Hwa as Kim Ae-gyeong. We discuss:
The songs we featured during the recap:
Sad Memory by Fallin Dild
Secret by YELO
How Yoon Cho won finally came to believe that Ban Ji eum was her sister Yoon Ju won in her past life.
The two secrets revealed in this episode: that the car accident was not an accident but murder, and Ha Do yoon’s father was the Moon driver and he was killed during the accident as well.
The mysterious Kang Min Gi and Hanna. Who are they? What is their mission? And why do they think that Ban Ji eum connecting with her past lives will be dangerous and cause harm?
When Kim Ae-gyeong and Kang Min gi go out, Ban Ji eum gets curious and finds the shaman bells in Kang Min gi’s room. Touching these bells brings back the visions from Ban Ji eum’s nightmares.
Goryeo celadon since Ban Ji eum gave Wonjo Capital a celadon vase to pay off her brother’s debt.
The horrible secret that the accident that killed Yoon Ju won was actually a murder attempt against Moon Seo ha is learned by Ban Ji eum, Ban Dong woo, and Moon Seo ha.
Moon Seo ha’s realization that the driver who died in the car accident was Ha Do yoon’s father. He never knew! When he confronts Ha Do yoon, they end up fighting.
We now know that even though Ha Do yoon likes Yoon Cho won, he won’t date her because they are not in the same social class and he doesn't want to be seen as taking advantage of her.
CEO Jang’s visit to the Chairman’s house to get him to forgive her son, Chan-hyuk.
The mysterious Mr. Im, who visits the Chairman.
When Ban Ji eum hugs Moon Seo ha and tells him they won’t have a sad ending and that she’ll stay by his side, the memory of a young Seo ha and Ju won in the pool turns red with blood.
A potential new K Drama element: Closing the distance in slow motion to hug

Another great episode ladies.
ReplyDeleteI’ll admit that I did not have Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs on my Bingo card for this one!
You mentioned the blacked-out logo on the car. I think this is actually another K Drama Element (or at least a subcategory of the product placement element). I am not sure if the logo was blacked out because the show did not have the right to use the logo or (what I suspect) the producers don’t want to give any publicity away for free! You will often see other logos covered up on clothing and even some luxury items. If watch carefully, you will notice characters often have a flower or a heart or some other motif on the left breast of shirts where a logo would typically be (like the Polo pony or the Nike Swoosh). You will also often see sneakers slightly altered so that they don’t have the Nike Swoosh or Addidas three stripes when they are clearly those shoes. I’ve even seen University Sweatshirts with letters removed leaving you with something like ALIFORNI ERKL or TANFOR UNIVERSITY. Lol. Watch for it and I think you will see it a lot.
As for upcoming shows that I am looking forward to, I am with Joanna and I am looking forward to anything IU is in! I told Joanna that you will have to clear the decks so you can do one of her shows in real time like QOT. Unfortunately, no info as of yet when those shows will air or on what platform in the US.
And since nobody asked, here is what I am currently watching:
The K Drama Gods must be rewarding me for having watched TWO seasons of Kingdom, as they have granted be two pure romances for the beginning of 2025.
Love Scout – a sloooowwww burn romance staring Han ji-min (one of my favorites!) and Lee Jun-hyuck. A work place romance with a bit of a role reversal where she is the CEO and he is her secretary. Soooo good.
Motel California – I guess I would call this a tragic romance story where the two leads are too clueless to realize that they both want to be with each other. Also very good.
There are no zombies, magic, demons, grim reapers, time travel, random serial killers, etc. In other words, Joanna will hate these two shows! ;-p Both are on Viki.
I’m also watching When the Stars Gossip and I have to say this show has the most cuckoo banana pants story line of any K Drama I’ve ever watched! It is truly ridiculous. It is so bad its (almost) good.
Oh, and of course, Singles Inferno 4! Delicious!
Malcolm, thanks for your insight about the logos and product placements! We agree with you!
DeleteSung Hee and I are seriously hoping that When Life Gives You Tangerines drops in March so that we can do it in real time. Yes, you know me, anything with IU is going to be at the top of my list!
Thanks for the list of shows you're watching. Too many shows on my list already, but I'm always taking recommendations. Heck, I even enjoyed the few episodes of Singles Inferno that I watched on your recommendation. The hosts are the best, their commentary is hilarious!
